Jolly Archers Open Western 2007 The Jolly Archers
    of Houghton & Wyton
Jolly Archers Club History
When you pick up a bow to shoot your first arrow you are taking part in an activity dating back at least 20,000 years. The Egyptians first established the bow and arrow as a primary weapon of war around 3,500 B.C. The Jolly Archers are, however, not quite that old. We came into being on 1st August 1962 at a meeting held in the Three Jolly Butchers public house in Wyton village. About twelve people attended the meeting, including our President, Den Smith.

The Club has flourished ever since with men and women of all ages enjoying this ancient sport of archery. Many Club archers have represented the county and gained awards at competitions. Whilst others have provided "Have-a-Go's" at fetes and for local clubs. There is therefore the opportunity to participate in the sport at the level of your choice.
