As the restrictions placed on archery due to covid 19 relax, Jolly Archers are pleased to announce that the Coaching Group have agreed to provide a duty coach on duty at Jubilee Park every Saturday (weather permitting) from 10 – 12. Members are welcome to approach the duty coach during those times for help with shooting technique, equipment checks etc. The club coaches will also provide individual coaching sessions at times to suit the archer and the coach (see below).
The Club Coaches are:
Gill and Steve Millward - are County Coaches with over 40 years’ experience between them. This has been gained at all levels including club, county, and regional squad coaching both here in the UK and overseas. Although Steve is regarded as a recurve specialist, he is happy to coach all bow types and archers and bases much of his coaching on the Korean system rather than the traditional UK methods. Gill specialises in coaching juniors and ladies within the AGB community and is happy to coach most bow styles except compound.
Both Steve & Gill also have considerable experience coaching archers with disabilities, as both are members of the coaching staff for the British Wheelchair Archery Association, based at Stoke Mandeville, the home of the Paralympics.
Liz began her coaching journey as a Level 1 (now Session Coach) in April 2015 and became a Level 2 (Development Coach) in August 2018. She started the County Coach course in October 2019 however this has not been progressed due to Covid 19. Liz has comprehensive experience with both Beginners and Improvers. She is involved with the Southern Counties Archery Training Centre (adults and juniors) and Junior Pathway Alignment Academy (juniors) as well as assisting with the National Talent Development Programme for junior archers.
Her primary area for coaching has been with recurve archers but has coached compound, barebow and longbow archers.
Mark is a Level 2 coach with over 8 years experience of coaching archers. He is happy to coach all bow styles but specialises in traditional bows.
Adrian Wilkinson (Currently not available)
Adrian is an experienced Level 2 coach and can coach all bow styles.
Marion Van Dalen
Marion has been a Level 1 coach since 2015 and has been involved in running several beginners’ courses.
Tom is an ambulatory wheelchair user now who does all of his shooting sat in a chair. He has been shooting since 2012 and shoots compound but has previous experience shooting recurve both bare-bow and olympic style. Tom has been coaching since 2017 and is currently a level 1 coach and is working towards the goal of intending to complete his level 2.

A summary of what areas of development you would like to address should also be provided. The email will be forwarded to the relevant coach who will contact the enquirer to make arrangements to meet. Please note, it is the responsibility of the archer to book a target for any coaching session scheduled.
